It’s not all work and no play in the CBD. For one full day, Thugshop turns the heart of the city into a raver’s habitat with its latest adventurous endeavour, KAOS IN THE CBD (iykyk). If you consider Thugshop’s lineage in the scene, from back when it was formerly branded as The Council, you’ll know that big-time pop-ups are up its alley. In similarly bold fashion, the Thugshop team is pulling out all the stops by hosting this event across four venues in the city centre; a full-on CBD takeover orchestrated by nightlife titans.

KAOS IN THE CBD gives spectators the element of choice, just like how they’d choose a stage at a music festival. The marathon begins at a dedicated daytime venue at 30 Maxwell Road for revellers to unwind in the sunshine. And once it starts to flow deeper into the night, Thugshop will open all of its three signature venues at once – Headquarters, Tuff Club, and MDLR – to keep the debauchery going. All venues are walkable from one another and a full-day pass grants full access to all locations, so you’ve no excuse not to test your endurance at this party bender.

When Thugshop promises, it often delivers. And to match an event of this calibre, it’s unleashing a lineup of 14 acts, including international hotshots and local trailblazers across an array of genres. Headliners comprise industry powerhouses such as Drunken Kong, AE:THER, Marcus Worgull and Rey&Kjavik; and not to mention a comeback performance from Damie representing Faust from Seoul. And keeping the floor nice and sizzly are some of Singapore’s deftest on the decks with sounds ranging from classic house to industrial techno. They’ll be pumped out by both seasoned and fresher Thugshop performers: Vaibs, MA DE, Amber H, AYA, Dexter Colt, Halal Sol, J.Goh, James Riach and Leland.

According to head thug, Clement Chin, KAOS IN THE CBD was born from the idea of pushing quality music no matter what it is. Busting down gatekeeping tendencies and definitions of what’s good or not, this event is shrugging off any judgment and providing an avenue for everyone. If it works on the dancefloor, it has a place to shine where Thugshop’s concerned.

KAOS IN THE CBD, 9 September 2023, 4pm-late, across four venues. For more information and full lineup, follow Thugshop on Instagram. Tickets available here.
