Just imagine being swept up by the nostalgic magnificence of dance anthems like Faithless’ “Insomnia” and Robert Miles’ “Children”, but performed live with the grandeur of a live orchestra. Tie all of that together with the association of a historic industry establishment like Ministry of Sound, and you have a sublime combination that would make OG partygoers cry. Ministry Of Sound Classical is the larger-than-life sensation that’s been reimagining revered dance hits, and it now makes it way to Singapore’s Fort Canning Green courtesy of TEG Asia.
What’s compelling about this roving spectacular is that it supports our local talents too. This local leg of Ministry of Sound Classical will feature Singapore’s very own Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, performing together with touring vocalists and DJs. It’s a symphonic retelling of a narrative that’s endured across decades, one that echoes the legacy of the ’90s superclub that pioneered an era. Strings, horns, percussions and electronic accents all come together to reshape dancefloor-jolting treasures from the likes of Darude, Fatboy Slim, Dario G and The Bucketheads.
It’s a concept reminiscent of 2017’s Henderson Project gig that paid tribute to Zouk with live orchestral covers of house and techno numbers, and if you managed to catch that rare (and unaffiliated) one-off show, you’ll know that this is bound to be something special. After all, you’re never too old to party, eh?
