W Singapore’s New “After Dark” Series Sees Its Hotel Habitat Morph Into A Pop-Up Party Playground

The W brand has always been more than just hospitality but a music-minded destination. Since its founding in 1998, W Hotels has cemented a legacy that cares about its musical programming (we can’t downplay the significance of good music to create a good space) and that ethos has flowed into its Singapore establishment at Sentosa Cove. And now under the wing of W Singapore’s Music Curator, Sivanesh Pillai – who’s gained the industry’s trust as Sivilian Affairs’ co-honcho plus the undisputable fact that he’s just that good a DJ – the hotel continues to preserve its identity with its latest event series, After Dark, making its debut on 7 February.

After Dark intends to speak W Singapore’s creative language while transforming the urban resort into a pop-up party playground. After Dark’s programming is accentuated with international headliners, and this upcoming launch at the hotel’s WOOBAR showcases the New York-raised and Manila-based DJ XI, whose house-focused sound is a playful and saucy blend of tribal rhythms and timeless grooves. DJ XI gets xi-rious behind the decks with some solid support from local faves, including Erin Khan, RPDM and Zafirah for collective shades of house, techno, organic and soulful sounds. It’s a classy assembly that fits the W Singapore habitat, and After Dark, it gets a little slicker and naughtier.

“Music has always been central to the W brand globally; it’s a force that shapes culture and connection,” shares Sivanesh. “With After Dark, we wanted to create a space that truly embodies our distinctive sonic identity, bringing together international talent and the local DJ community. By placing it in WOOBAR, we’re able to create an underground edge that feels unexpected for a luxury lifestyle hotel like W – and that contrast is what makes After Dark exciting.
