Whether you’ve gotten cosy for a streetside sunset wind-down or rocked up boozy for one last nightcap, you’re familiar with its signature premise – it’s a “start and end of a great night kinda place”. That’s the distinctively laid-back slogan of Naga House, a scene-stirring establishment that first surfaced in 2021 during the COVID crunch. Within a short span of time, Naga House has gained a following with its affordable concoctions and scrumptious bites (the Naga Pasta is a constant winner), and its casual blue-lit ambience that comes alive with rousing soundtracks cranked up to 10.

Culture’s played a big part in influencing the Naga identity, and it goes beyond its little fashion corner that’s often peddling streetwear merch. Music holds equal sway in its imprint, and that’s why it eventually launched NAGA(SOUNDS), gradually but noticeably doing its bit to sustain the music scene that it’s connected with. As a promotion arm, NAGA(SOUNDS) is distinguishable from other homegrown promoters in that it’s decided to cast its net across the region, buttressing the talents of overlooked DJs in the Southeast Asian region. Some regional acts that it’s propped up in its past few pop-up events include Bagvs (Bandung), Gero (Bali) and Acid Sister (Bangkok), supported by handpicked local DJs such as Leland, Tashasan, Kllara AKA Kin Leonn and HBN.

Come 15 July, NAGA(SOUNDS) continues its region-bolstering mission with its first anniversary party at Tuff Club. Featuring a collaboration with the Jakarta-based Perky Club, this event will showcase the boundless sounds of its resident selector, Kevin T; as well as the disco-leaning Kimoji (also from ZODIAC Space & Bar) whose productions were released on the collective’s Perky Club Records label. Sharing deck duties are Anwar with his bumpy house cuts, and Kins who’s the resident DJ of NAGA(SOUNDS).

“We are not looking at bringing big acts just to please the general crowd,” Kins explains on the event’s concept. “We wanna educate the crowd in Singapore that big acts don’t necessarily mean they are better. Hence, we decided to showcase a pool of talented DJs in Southeast Asia. As is the case with Naga House, we welcome everyone!”
