BREW Is Back: Darker Than Wax Announce The Return Of Their Signature Party Series

True troopers will know what’s up. The scene has been parched since the low-key hiatus of BREW, the signature outdoor shindig of Darker Than Wax that sent shockwaves with its communal format.

Beloved as one of the scene’s more prominent day parties – making an impact long before ‘coffee raves’ were the party du jour – BREW planted seeds of hype with its base of operations at Jalan Besar’s Chye Seng Huat Hardware cafe, even spilling into the streets with evolved block party editions. In late-2023, Darker Than Wax made the bold move to shift the address of BREW to Kampong Bugis. But the series gradually dissolved thereafter with a lull that’s kept audiences thirsty for more – at least, until now.

Like a shot of double espresso, Darker Than Wax has jolted the scene with its latest announcement. BREW is making a comeback on 23 August, this time in another alfresco habitat at AIR CCCC in Dempsey. The big news comes with an equally big lineup, and it stays true to the BREW tradition of showcasing Darker Than Wax talents and like-minded affiliates. For this BREW, the promoters and record label crew have invited Thai favourite Pam Anantr (also the label’s newest signing), and US-based labelmate Mawkus who makes his Singapore debut. Warming it all up is the dream team of Dean Chew, Daryl Knows, Dexter Colt, Leland and a trusty live act from Kaye – all dishing out a repertoire of woozy deep house, rare disco, left-field soul and out-there funk. Yes, your BREW fix is back.
