The long road of Blackout Agency has been an incandescent one, radiating uncompromising vigour across the scene with its chain of parties, lifestyle initiatives and other community events. Helmed by industry veteran, Zig Zach, the Blackout brand has shone on with recurring event series like Ritual and Escape 56, as well as the occasional villa takeover or island getaway. Blackout’s been delivering these combos for nearly nine years now, and it’s now commemorating this hard-earned victory with a milestone that symbolises what it does best – a throwdown that brings communities together.

On 28 October, Blackout rings in its ninth anniversary with an extra-inclusive gig that assembles a rainbow-hued squad of LGBTQ+ party collectives. Blackout’s affiliation with the LGBTQ+ community has been supportive and visible through the years, notably with its ties with the Sunday Social Market and its Pasar Pink series held in partnership with Pink Dot and Pink Fest. For this fabulous blowout, Blackout teams up with Pink Fest again, as well as the ensemble of FOMOHOMO, CUM, Club Kiki, Ringtone and 0rbit for a truly unified gig with its freak flag hoisted high.

It's only fitting that this historic show is headlined by a global icon who frequently champions awareness for LGBTQ+ rights, and that’s none other than Midland. Returning to Singapore once again, the British electronic savant is a top booking who’s done it all. From his seminal connections with Hessle Audio and the launch of record labels Graded and ReGraded, to having a BBC Essential Mix and his numerous productions and remixes for the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Mano Le Tough and Julio Bashmore, Midland has racked up quite the legacy for himself. For Blackout, he will be supported by fellow pro-LGBTQ+ selectors, Shigeki, Meraki Soul and the dynamic duo of Amber H and Emma SS as A&E. And did we mention that it’s also a Halloween gig at Haw Par Villa? No excuses not to dress up now.

But if you can’t wait that long, Blackout’s actually having another Escape 56 fiesta several weeks earlier on 6 October. For this one, Blackout’s locked down another secret warehouse location with another big-time performer. Fronting the lineup is Berlin’s own Paramida, the resident selector of Panorama Bar and co-founder of Love On The Rocks together with Alex Kassian. On warmup duties for her are the trusty house repertoires of Anwar and Leland, sharp-edged trailblazers heating up the local DJ circuit.

Pick one or even better, head to both. Blackout Agency is on a roll with these anniversary festivities.
