Music has the power to unite and connect, especially when faced with dire plights around the world like the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Despite being halfway across the world from our tiny garden isle, Singaporean label KittyWu Records shows that they can effect change with an act of scene solidarity. With a long-lasting catalogue embracing local alt-rock, post-rock, post-hardcore and other rebellious genres, KittyWu Records knows a thing or two about making noise. And with this new statement, they now amplify their values to aid the world and foster a healthier music ecosystem.

Last month, KittyWu Records announced the withdrawal of their catalogue from Spotify given their controversies in funding weapon technologies. In doing so, they joined the actions of No Music For Genocide, a global volunteer-driven campaign protesting against apartheid policies and the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Since embarking on that path, KittyWu has soldiered on with their fundraising efforts, and they’ve done so most recently with Still Louder Than Silence, a fundraising compilation that you can now support on Bandcamp. The compilation features past anthems, unreleased demos, live gig recordings and other label picks from artists that represent the scene outside of their roster, including the likes of Sun Cell, ANECHOIS, Fauxe and Mary Sue, sub:shaman, SIAL, Paint The Sky Red and Plainsunset.
The Still Louder Than Silence compilation released on 30 October 2025 follows the release of Louder Than Silence that KittyWu launched on 7 October. The preceding compilation presented a more focused repertoire of KittyWu acts past and present. With label selections from Amberhaze, Amateur Takes Control, I Am David Sparkle, Naedr, motifs, Pleasantry, MONSTER CAT, Caracal and Deepset; the compilation truly shows the definitive role of KittyWu Records in promoting the alternative milieu of the scene since 2007.
All proceeds from either compilation will be donated to Love Aid Singapore, a Singapore-based initiative that provides urgent humanitarian relief to Gaza in the form of medical aid and food kitchens. These proceeds will donated by the end of November, so be quick to show your support and make a difference.
