The enormous stature of the nightlife economy is a clear indication that electronic music can’t be confined to the clubs. It’s why top-tier promoters like Collective Minds – a longstanding fixture of our scene (and beyond in the region) – are leveraging on this mass appeal, listening to what fans wants and launching giga-sized gigs with star-powered lineups. Fresh off a winning string of other big-time events this past year like Glass Beams, JYOTY and Fred Again.., Collective Minds are showing that they’re not stepping on the brakes for this upcoming one-two combo.

If the overwhelming quantity of Halloween gigs frightens you, perhaps there’s just this one to consider. Collective Minds delivers “Deadly Disco”, turning the gargantuan Pasir Panjang Power Station into an industrial rave palace. Matching the size of this jamboree is the level of collaboration involved in this, with other organising partners including Manifest, GrooveTop, FOMOHOMO and Soul Collective. The lineup is fittingly superb and stacked: nu-disco pioneers Flight Facilities, Rush Hour fixture Hunee, a DJ set from indietronica icons Hot Chip, and the revered Romy from The xx is all set to headline this affair. GrooveTop and FOMOHOMO residents, Zafirah and Emma SS, are slated to support for some local love.

But as seismic as that announcement sounds, the Collective Minds momentum hardly stops there. About a month later on 29 November, the far-reaching promoters are bringing down yet another industry superstar who has risen amidst an inferno of hype. The much-awaited Sammy Virji has been locked in for his Singapore debut at the Glass Dome, and he’s expected to show why he’s the ace running the yard of the ongoing UKG resurgence. Virji comes loaded with his recent Same Day Cleaning album release, featuring collaborations with the likes of Giggs, MJ Cole, Skepta and Chris Lake. UKG devotees would be drooling for this one, innit?
