Singapore’s hardly the first place that comes to mind when you feel like catching a gnarly wave or hitting the snow slopes. But board sports junkies will soon be able to pursue their fantasies and practise their chops with the launch of TRIFECTA, positioned as Asia’s first snow, surf and skate lifestyle destination along Singapore’s Orchard Road belt. Equipped with ski simulators, deep-water surf pools and a hybrid skate bowl, TRIFECTA is a 49,000 sq ft space conceptualised and developed by Singapore adventure sports company, The Ride Side, welcoming riders and non-riders eager for that adrenaline rush.

TRIFECTA will officially launch on 28 October with a power-cowabunga programme that stretches on for four weeks. And like a downward ramp, it’s a flurry that picks up in intensity, culminating in week four (18 and 19 November) with the TRIFECTA Music Festival. The two-day event is a nod to the shared cultural relationship between board sports and music, and it’ll be showcasing this combo of passions across three music stages, three ride arenas and three festival grounds.

And like a combo, TRIFECTA Music Festival features a mixed lineup of live performers and bands, as well as DJ acts to add colour to the curation. On the live side, the gig’s already roped in regional headliners like Thailand’s Phum Viphurit and Philippines’ Lola Amour, and an ensemble of homegrown apex artists such as rappers BGourd and Akeem Jahat, noise-rockers Subsonic Eye, pop upstarts Shye and YAØ, indie-pop favourites Club Mild (who just had a name change) and even a rare appearance from rock & rollers Cashew Chemists.

As for the DJ round-up, the event has assembled quite the pack of selectors. From house and Japanese city pop to open-format and experimental electronica, the list of DJs include the likes of Kaye and Daryl Knows (Darker Than Wax), Vira Suria (Culture), A’alely (Strange Weather), Itch, Leland, A/K/A Sounds (ATTAGIRL!), Ginette Chittick, and Muto and Toppings (Ice Cream Sundays). For both days of the festival, the entertainment’s even prepped closing parties from EMONIGHTSG for ear-piercing and heart-breaking emo ragers, and Eatmepoptart for its euphoric blasts of indie anthems and alternative classics.

But if you can’t wait till 18 November to check out the TRIFECTA hype, don’t hesitate to check out the preceding three weeks of activities planned. Week one (28 and 29 October) marks the TRIFECTA Launch Week with skating showcases from industry legends, surf coaching sessions from Citywave pros, and the flagship store launch of The Ride Side. Week two (4 and 5 November) reveals This is BS!, a mish-mash event fusing surf, snow and skate with all-day booze and beats, soundtracked by Candice B, Last Saturdays and Pagoda Beats. And week three (11 and 12 November) presents On The Flipside, an arts-centric showcase focused on art shows, DIY workshops, board sports film screenings and wellness workshops.

Plan your route accordingly for this massive undertaking up ahead. This is a launch fiesta that’s gonna get plenty of hang time.
