The appeal of winding down at a beach club has risen these last couple of months. To plonk yourself down on a daybed with the sea breeze in your hair and the sand sifting through your toes lies in stark contrast with the stay-in isolation of the pandemic. The empowerment of escape in the great outdoors is a powerfully enticing scenario that lassoes the curiosity, especially when aggrandised by the provision of delectable food offerings and a properly curated soundtrack. Such is the haven of Rumours Beach Club, haven’t you heard?

Rumours has a wide variety of seating options

Launched in 2019, Rumours Beach Club expanded from its origins as a renowned bar in Bali, spreading its wings further in Singapore. Residing on a chunky slice of Siloso Beach real estate, the Sentosa crowd-puller is an instant eye-catcher, drawing patrons with its Balinese charm. Rumours prides itself on being the only beach club in Singapore with three swimming pools, and being a family-friendly establishment with an eclectic selection of seating arrangements, divided by group sizes and price tiers.

There’s a sprawling sofa area that faces the venue’s central main pool, highlighted by its ‘floating’ platforms erected right in front of the DJ console. The BBQ lounge area features an array of daybeds adjacent to the grill station, while there’s also a beachfront section that puts you right on the beach with its cushy beanbags and sun decks. Those who prefer more privacy can opt for the sheltered cabanas that surround the children’s pool, and of course there’s the coveted VIP section that has an infinity VIP pool of its own. However mega or intimate your occasion, Rumours has a space for you (booking in advance is highly recommended).

Introducing Rumours’ famous Seafood Platter

Hearty sustenance is essential for any beachy soiree, and Rumours doesn’t disappoint in this department either. While it does serve comfort food staples like pizzas, pastas, burgers and brunch fare, the main attraction of Rumours’ culinary expertise is its Jimbaran-styled BBQ menu. If you feel like munching on all its specialties, order the fit-for-sharing Seafood Platter that comes packed with a grilled assortment of river prawns, bamboo lobster, whole red snapper, whole squid and white clams. The Indonesian Chicken Satay is another tender, scrumptious offering that’s a must-try, and there’s even an Indonesian Fried Rice if you need your nasi goreng fix.

But what makes a beach club truly special is its vibe, and there’s no better vibe-builder than music. The last thing you want is a jarring tune that shatters the ambience, and knowing this far too well is The DJ Dispensary. If that name sounds familiar to you, it’s because they were the ones who tried to bring back conditional DJ performances in the thick of the pandemic (Rumours was the testing grounds for this initiative). But now that the storm has passed, The DJ Dispensary is back to curating its regular programming of homegrown DJs. Past performers have included the likes of Aldrin, Kaye, DJ KFC, Brendon P, Jeremy Boon, and Mr. Has, serving a slick stream of house, disco, deep house and choons that stay away from over-commercialism.

Rumour has it your spirit comes alive when you’re immersed in an oasis of sublime sounds, delightful nourishment and scenic splendour that come together in harmony. Rumours has it all.
