ÆTHER Sessions Snaps Out Of Its Dormancy To Bring Back Its Atmospheric Gig Experience

A perfectly tuned sound system is crucial. A prime selection of performers is vital. But for a gig to possess indelible memorability, another factor that calls for consideration is atmosphere. The substance of a space is just as significant as the entertainment it houses.

When ÆTHER Sessions first launched in 2019, ‘atmosphere’ was the key ingredient that made them stand out from other live gig series in the scene. Unlike other DIY concerts that often encourage unruly moshes, ÆTHER advocates the art of ‘atmospheric experiences’, creating more intimate occasions while showcasing ensembles of homegrown acts. Utilising elements like ambient lighting, beanbags, cushions and blankets, the series built a comfy space where zenning out to noisy guitar music was perfectly acceptable.

After a two-year break – no prizes for guessing why – ÆTHER Sessions has finally crawled out of its burrow to launch its fourth instalment. It will be assembling this haven at Room 0416 – where it held its previous edition – a fitting hideout sequestered within the labyrinth of Golden Mile Complex. The series also continues to uphold its tradition of eclectic lineups on this fourth rodeo, roping in instrumental rock veterans, Paint The Sky Red; ‘experimental screamo’ unit, tiny hoarse; math-rock mavericks, Approaching Aphelion; and noise-rock hotshots, Subsonic Eye. It will be boisterous. It will be dazy. It will be a sweeping deluge of music that will get you in the zone.

Whether you choose to be a tranquil wallflower or choose to unleash your mosh animal anyway (ÆTHER implores you to keep their props clean), ÆTHER Sessions invites you to feel at home in its atmosphere.
