After teasing audiences over the years with the frisky foreplay of his sets – often pumped with disco and Italo influences – Kevin Sy has finally released his debut EP. The Thugshop resident has been undeniably a crowd favourite with his charismatic presence and pick-me-up selections behind the decks, yet behind the scenes, he’d been sneakily working on his production aptitude and waiting for that moment to unveil his labour of love. The culmination of all this is Disco Delirio, a short and sweet two-track EP now launched halfway across the world on the Madrid-based Rare Wiri Records, run by fellow disco devotee, Rayko.

Pirogi In Space” instantly gets the groove going with its juicy and stimulating build, and like its name, it’s indeed bountifully stuffed with melodies and nostalgia. Like the soundtrack of an ’80s workout routine, it perks you up with its octave-hopping basslines, spacey reverb-buffed drums, and cascading synth melodies that take turns strutting their stuff, complementing each other without duelling. And “Disco Delirio” is equally cheeky as the EP’s title track, hypnotising and intoxicating with amorous persuasion. Beneath the bubbly synths, its centre-stage bassline loops and carries the song with confidence and machismo, reflecting the ‘stay classy’ demeanour of its composer.

If you need a quick crash course on Kevin Sy’s musical essence, Disco Delirio is all the education you need.
