Maximalism is an ingredient that’s not used sparingly in constructing nightlife concepts. Some entertainment venues go for the jugular when building their fantasy realm, parading a visage of flamboyance that just stuns you the moment you lay eyes on it. It’s a memo that’s definitely been well-received by Tipsy Unicorn, the chatter-garnering beach club that recently opened along Siloso Beach Walk in Sentosa. In case its name didn’t give it away, it’s one of the latest ventures by Tipsy Collective, the lifestyle hospitality group also responsible for establishments like Tipsy Flamingo, Tipsy Penguin, Lady Wu and Wallich Manor. With Tipsy Unicorn however, it does the moniker justice with a theme so brazenly decked out in ostentation.

An entrance that fits the theme of the venue

While Sentosa already has its fair share of beach clubs, Tipsy Unicorn stands out from the pack with its playful design language and focus on tropical luxury. Imagine illuminated rainbow gateway arches against white entrances. Private suites adorned with pink furniture and paraphernalia. A fleet of daybeds and lounge cabanas awash in purple hues and kitschy stripes. And an extravagantly positioned DJ console facing a main pool that doubles up as the dancefloor. With its 19,000 sq ft area flaunting multiple levels and a 500-person capacity, Tipsy Unicorn is an enormous venue that shows off its majesty and lustre like a dazzling horn on its head.

Tipsy Unicorn has a variety of daybeds, prime daybeds, lounge cabanas and suites

So how does a space as ambitious as this fill its ornate halls? Starting with the music, Tipsy Unicorn has already brought down a roster of international DJs in its opening months, including Emma Hewitt, Funk D and Mariana Bo. Supported by local selectors such as KoFlow, Effen, Che’Molly and SoundsOfFai, the musical direction has so far leaned towards accessible genres like house, trance, big room, Afro, pop and open-format, but let’s wait and see if it expands beyond this scope down the road.

It's a beach club, so getting fed is part and parcel of the experience. Like the collective’s other outlets, the dining menu here is extensive, with a range of seafood, pastas, burgers and plant-based offerings to fill you up. But if you intend to watch that beach bod of yours, Tipsy Unicorn also has in-house fitness classes where you get to participate in scenic workout sessions facilitated by fitness trainers. And to top it off, the place even has a shop-in-shop concept selling exclusive The Tipsy Unicorn x PUMA apparel and merchandise, just in case you’ve forgotten to bring your beach gear.

The identity of unicorns is hardly associated with the idea of restraint. And in that sense, Tipsy Unicorn is positively galloping on rainbows with its new extreme endeavour.
