The floor is fierce and the slay bells are ringing. Are you ready to unleash your killer voguing moves? Since its inception in 2010, MISMATCH has firmly embedded its punchy presence in the LGBTQ+ party community, spearheaded by the unifying vision of local culture champ, Bobby Luo. It’s a solid vision that’s stood as a lighthouse for self-expression on the dancefloor, promoting the pillars of inclusivity and diversity with house music at its core. MISMATCH flaunts a code that echoes the global origins of house, and it wants to wear this fabric of pride at its next big event – HOUSE UR HEAD: The Dance Off.

Happening on 21 April on the eve of Hari Raya Puasa, this queer extravaganza is bringing the rainbow-hued revelries back to Zouk in Phuture; apropos considering the megaclub’s history with the LGBTQ+ party scene. Its musical programme is festooned with what it calls its “special brand of homo house NRG”, and leading this parade of sounds on the decks is a DJ squad handpicked by MISMATCH’s mischief-mongers. Taking you on a journey across the pages of house are queer party selectors, Shigeki, Meraki Soul, and Bobby himself as Bobby Obby Obby. And joining them as Zouk’s representative is none other than Jeremy Boon, another icon who’s shaped the terrain of party culture in Singapore.

No LGBTQ+ party is complete without dancing, and this MISMATCH fiesta is pulling out the stops with its supporting acts. Getting the choreo started are “go-go gurlinas” Glenn Mizrahi and Icar Marciano, and they’ll be accompanied by drag acts Sapphire Blast and Vexx Amen to stir the audience with their shenanigans. To further honour its heritage, this party will be having an Old Way Vogue exhibition battle, showcasing the duelling dancefloor antics of Amin and a “mystery dancer”. But you’re welcome to strut your stuff too of course; in fact, the best dancers of the night will receive cash prizes and will even be booked as dancers for the next MISMATCH party.

So time to start brushing up those moves. It might just be your time to shine.
