Amidst the chaotic uncertainty of the pandemic, the nightlife industry has been hit with another piece of bad news. Beloved institution, Kult Kafe, has announced that it’s departing from its iconic Emily Hill locale, the distinctive colonial-era mansion that’s played host to its happenings since 2015. Revealed on Instagram, the Kult Kafe brand is now looking for a new home, although admirers of its chilled-out ethos can still flock to its sister outlet, Kult Yard at Pearl’s Hill Terrace.

From music to the arts, Kult Kafe has embraced a melange of activities with open arms, turning events into memorable experiences. The storied, family-friendly venue has welcomed live jam sessions, genre-spanning DJ sets, salsa classes, vinyl bazaars, animation festivals, poetry performances and so much more, making it an inclusive habitat for all sorts of cultures. It also famously featured Sunday on the Hill, an all-day party that continued the legacy of Sunday at the Training Shed, a series that holds great significance amongst the scene till this day.

Even without the events, Kult Kafe was simply a perfect establishment to kick back with a craft beer and hang with companions, old and new. There are truly few spots like it that offer a sequestered escape in the middle of the city, with a crew who fully supports the importance of the arts. Kult Kafe V1 will certainly be missed by the scene, but the community will follow its spirit wherever it goes.
