Ever dreamt of being mentored by electronic doyenne, Sister Bliss? Together with homegrown sensation, Charlie Lim? This isn’t some parallel universe or a fantasy that needs waking up from; if you’re a nascent musician or established act with mega goals, this could very well be your reality right here in Singapore.

The iconic frontwoman of Faithless – the groundbreaking band that produced trance anthems like “Insomnia” and “God Is a DJ” – is teaming up with Charlie and other music professionals around the world to launch The Hit Academy Asia on our shores. The Hit Academy Asia will be a six-week, online-based songwriting and music production programme that rolls out on 26 August, and culminates in a three-day, in-person songwriting camp in Singapore’s Noivil Studios from 21 to 23 October. Part of the curriculum also includes writing for live commercial song briefs, letting students have a chance to develop their skills for real-world projects.

Aside from Sister Bliss who will be directly part of the mentorship, The Hit Academy Asia is co-run by Tileyard London and Prolific Songs. The former is a King’s Cross-based community that houses over a hundred music studios, with residents including Benji B, The Prodigy and Pioneer DJ. While the latter is a music publishing and rights management company that has clients who’ve written and produced chart-topping hits for Madonna, David Guetta, Becky G and Justin Bieber.

“I'm excited and grateful to be part of Hit Academy Asia, which has put together a great team and a grounded, practical curriculum that I wish was available when I was starting out in my career!” shares Charlie on this ambitious initiative. “Am really looking forward to help contribute where I can and help budding artists find their voice in the process.”

Of course, this is barely the first time Charlie has paved the way for future talents. Just recently, Charlie co-launched The Great Wave, an artist collective DAO that hopes to fund artists’ projects and incentivise collaboration while giving back to the fans. The Great Wave released its inaugural single earlier in July, featuring a collaborative single between Charlie and r&b starlet, KEYANA.
