PULSE: There’s A New Waterhole For Live Music Housed In A Clarke Quay Heritage Mansion

Losing yourself at a rave is divine, but witnessing the raw power of a live band playing your favourite classic rock anthems just hits different. We always have a soft spot for local livehouses; bastions of shameless nostalgia gloriously rehashing the soundtracks of our youth. Fortunately for devotees of live music, there’s a new establishment that’s popped up in the beating heart of Clarke Quay, and its apt alias is PULSE.

While PULSE is a fairly new establishment that’s learning to stand on its own two feet, it stems from a solid shimmering pedigree as a fledgling offering from the reputable 1-Group. That’s a name that’s cosy with the nightlife scene, with other event-focused venues such as Monti, 1-Altitude Coast and the now-defunct Yang Club. In fact, PULSE now resides within Yang’s former address, in the 154-year-old heritage mansion (and multi-concept space) The Riverhouse. It’s not often you get to belt out a Bon Jovi classic in an architectural treasure like this.

As far as entertainment goes, PULSE plugs in the amps from Wednesdays to Saturdays. Its currently resident band is GRAVITY, one of the most sought-after bands in the gig circuit, and an international motley crew of musicians who are well-versed in pop, rock, r&b and Latin American numbers. Whatever you’ve scribbled on that request napkin, they’ll probably know it like the back of their hand. PULSE also programmes DJ sets in between live acts (with DJ Chris Columbus as resident), keeping the energy thumpy and bumpy while you guzzle down that third beer.
