If you haven't lost your marbles from this seemingly oppressive stay-home period yet, good on you! But if you’re having a hard time coping in these isolating circumstances, hang in there, and let music be your escape. Previously, I listed an assortment of local musicians and producers to check out while you’re holed up, and also did up a piece on seven ways you can still support the music scene in the light of event cancellations and venue closures. One of these aforementioned ways was to follow your favourite local party collectives, and two of which are now stepping up with noble, charitable causes in mind.

Known for their genre-spanning repertoire – notably, their flagship drum & bass Sub City events – Revision Music will be first hitting the decks online this Friday (17 April, 9pm). Led by the iconic, cool couple of RAH and Senja, this four-hour live-stream hopes to raise funds for the Vulnerable Women’s Fund by AWARE Singapore, set up to protect women affected by COVID-19 in areas of unemployment, housing, caregiving and domestic violence. You can donate online while boogieing along to their global selections, with 100% of proceeds going straight to the fund.

And on Sunday (19 April, 2pm), everyone’s favourite cream team of Bongomann, Muto Masashi and Toppings will be bringing their Ice Cream Sundays flavours from their respective homes to a screen near you. Their handpicked charity is TOWNS Foundation Inc., a non-profit organisation that purchases and distributes Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to hospitals and medical frontliners in The Philippines. A donation of $30 covers the cost of one PPE set, so do donate generously if you can. The groovy promoters have also added incentives for higher donations – a $200 donation gets you a “Housemate Hamper” thoughtfully assembled by the team and selected F&B sponsors (can’t say no to booze and bangers).

Not only can you support the scene by staying in and tuning in, but you can help others in need with your generosity and altruism. Safe, wholesome partying with a cause; this is genuinely a scene that cares.
