Orthodox isn’t exactly how you’d describe The Analog Girl. A household name in the local scene, The Analog Girl has been a pioneer of homegrown electronica since debuting in the mid-noughties. A doyenne of synth textures and known for her signature wispy vocals, The Analog Girl has garnered a groundbreaking reputation that even caught the attention of TIME Magazine back in 2008. And if you’ve ever had the pleasure of catching one of her live sets, her indecipherable prowess with baffling instruments like the Yamaha Tenori-on and Percussa AudioCubes is mesmerising to watch.

With all this in mind, it isn’t peculiar to see the seasoned innovator release a new album in a format that’s against the grain; neither available for streaming nor download. Following her 2017 full-length, Golden Sugar Crystals, The Analog Girl has discreetly released Soundtrack For Alice, a series of nine ambient tracks that can only be heard, in full, in a new business park in one-north called ALICE@Mediapolis.

Commissioned exclusively for the space and curated by design studio, FARM, the soundtrack is an experiential journey that consists of two-hour loops in three different parts of the day – Mornings at ALICE (8am-10am), Noons at ALICE (12pm-2pm), and Evenings at ALICE (5pm-7pm). Melodiously pensive and emotionally stirring, these tracks not only present a synth-rich escapade, but also plunge into the unparalleled imagination of The Analog Girl as she sculpts this narrative for the urban hub.

“It has been a whole new songwriting experience for me,” The Analog Girl elaborates in a press release. “The process has been meditative and exploratory, a year-long journey that led me to discover and incorporate new sounds, form new textures, new progressions, crafting longer songs than normal, and getting into these states of flow during long, uninterrupted sessions of playing and composing. I was truly in a state of bliss, much like falling in love.”

While you’re encouraged to witness the interplay between these compositions and the space within ALICE, you can catch a preview with these teasers below.
