Do you feel like erkin’ and jerkin’? Got a spry dribble in your step? It’s time to get in touch with your choreography in this 12th edition of the 15-Min Flash Mix, as we now swerve into the realm of Chicago footwork.

Loading in the tunes is B10N (AKA the musical alias of Balakrishnan VK), who’s one of the few track-slingers dabbling in juke and footwork in our scene. His love for the chopped-up, fast-paced genre stems from his natural inclination towards bass music, and he’s expressed this over the years through Juke It!, a party series co-founded with A/K/A Sounds. B10N was even featured in a recent local footwork documentary by Clemens Chua, which you can watch to learn more about this rare, esoteric subculture.

For the 15-Min Flash Mix, B10N goes way beyond 4/4 here, playing with irregular rapid percussions and ramped up BPMs. He’s pieced together a mix of bumpy beatwork with slippery grooves, made up of machine gun hats, crispy snares and pulsating kicks that rock the subs. He even adds plenty of surprising accoutrements that add colour, like insertions of acid riffs and Tamil song samples – the latter a shout-out to fellow Singaporean juke champ, Iyer, and his 2019 bumper, “Joy and Suffering”. Altogether, it’s a sonic whiplash that’s frenetic, animated, syncopated and hyperactive.

Now start warming up those ankles. This 15-Min Flash Mix will have your feet tied up in a pretzel by the time you’re done with it. It’s time to get footworking with B10N.
