I’m like a monkey in a banana stand when it comes to a pop-up rave on the island, and this next one doesn’t seem to disappoint.

Wonderfruit in Thailand is right around the corner (check out the chat I had with the festival’s founder), and if you’ve already booked your tickets for this fiesta in the fields, you’re probably already restless. If you can’t wait, however, then this collaboration between Singapore’s own TropicLab and Wonderfruit’s Rainforest Pavilion – one of its most iconic stages – should wriggle its way into your party calendar.

The local collective consisting of Jamie React, Haan and Dhakka are teaming up with the crew behind Rainforest Pavilion for a bash dubbed Road To Wonderfruit, a full day party (from 2pm to 10pm) on 23 November. The lineup is a stacked medley of both homegrown selectors and regional guests, including Sivanesh, Erwin Linden, Sharma, James Selva, DJ More, Tye West, Zushan, Zafirah, JoyLi, Darkbark and Asri. If that genre-flipping diversity isn’t enough to get you stoked, just wait till you hear about the venue.

The TropicLab folks have somehow managed to procure an unprecedented rooftop venue in – of all places – Bukit Timah Shopping Centre. A quick history nugget: this architectural relic is one of Singapore’s first malls to be fully air-conditioned, with a construction history that dates back to 1978. Its structure and inner anatomy is unlike anything you’ll find in most buildings today, and you can be certain that partying within a time-frozen establishment like this will be one for the books. After these rooftop shenanigans, the Road To Wonderfruit event will scurry to Kilo Lounge for the official afterparty. In more ways than one, this novel rave will definitely be a historic one.
